Ph.D. Students
Jinbo Zhao is a Ph.D. student in Industrial and System Engineering and received the 2022-2023 Wm Michael Barnes ’64 Doctoral Fellowship. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Sichuan University. His research interests are in simulation and optimization. Jinbo recharges himself by cooking, writing and hiking.
Mohammadmahdi Ghasemloo is a Ph.D. student in Industrial and System Engineering. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in Iran before coming to Texas A&M University for his Ph.D. studies. He enjoys doing research at the intersection of machine learning and simulation. According to him, one of the advantages of industrial engineering compared to other majors is that it involves combining knowledge from different fields to solve problems. He loves playing soccer in his free time.
Undergraduate Students
Javier Gatica is a Mathematical Engineering student from UC Chile, specializing in numerical analysis and optimization. His research interests are scientific computing and the analysis of optimization methods applied to different fields. He has research experience in control and finite element methods for partial differential equations. Javier spends his spare time playing instruments like violin and guitar.
Kayla Levy is a Data Engineering student with a minor in computer science and statistics at Texas A&M University. Her research interests lie in Julia (programming language) and how versatile it can be when solving optimization problems. She is also exploring ways to create user interfaces that bridge the gap between users and the software used to process data from simulations. In her free time, she hangs out with her three cats and goes to Pilates.
William Taylor is a senior Industrial Engineering student with a minor in statistics and computer science at Texas A&M University and will continue on to a Masters in Industrial Engineering and Data Science in Fall of 2025. His research interests include the intersection of machine learning and simulation methods in addressing supply chain problems. In his free time he likes to cook, read, and watch shows.
Akhil Bhale is a junior Data Engineering Student pursuing minors in Mathematics and Statistics. His research interests include stochastic modeling and machine learning and exploring their application to fields like supply chain, finance, and healthcare. In his free time, Akhil likes playing basketball and cooking new recipes.
