
David J. Eckman is an Assistant Professor in the Wm Michael Barnes ’64 Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Texas A&M University. He received his Ph.D. in Operations Research from Cornell University in 2019 and was a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences at Northwestern University from 2019-2021. He joined Texas A&M University in 2021 and teaches graduate and undergraduate classes in stochastic simulation and data analytics. Dr. Eckman’s research deals with input analysis, output analysis, and optimization for stochastic simulation models. He is a co-creator of SimOpt, an open-source testbed of simulation-optimization problems and solvers. He received the National Science Foundation CAREER award in 2026 and the Outstanding Simulation Publication award from the INFORMS Simulation Society in 2023. Dr. Eckman is currently the treasurer of the INFORMS Simulation Society and an associate editor for INFORMS Journal on Computing.
